Church Camp

Our Church camp is held every August Bank Holiday weekend at Bicknacre, near Danbury in Essex. Church camp has been going for many years and appeals to all ages. There is plenty to do, even if it is just relaxing or talking with friends. It proves so popular that friends who have moved away often make the journey back to join us for the few days together. Campers are either under canvas or in caravans. Some prefer to visit on a daily basis whilst enjoying their home comforts in between!

Preparing and eating food is done on a communal basis which proves a good way to get to know new faces. Activities in previous years have included walks, swimming in a local pool, a 'treasure hunt' in the next door wood, exploring the countryside, a campfire, organised and spontaneous outdoor and indoor games, a beetle drive, quiz and fish and chip supper.

On Sunday morning we descend en masse to the local Congregational Church where we are always made welcome. Well, after all these years they have got used to us! On Sunday evening we invite them and other friends to join us for a service in our marquee with singing led by the music group. The camp ends on the Monday lunchtime when all return home for a bath!
