Christ Church Rayleigh
United Reformed Church (Crown Hill)
Welcome to Christ Church
Christ Church is a busy church with many activities for all ages
We would like to introduce you to our regular activities for children and youth
(There are also occasional activities such as Church Camp photos, Barn Dance, and a Panto photos, that include children and youth.)
Sunday Morning Service
On Sundays at 10am, the first part of the service is more informal with the children in mind.
On most Sundays, children and youth can go to their own groups (Junior Church) mid way through the service.
There is also a toddlers play area in the worship area & crèche available. Children are also welcome to stay in church.
An All Age Family Service is held on the 1st Sunday of each month, where children aged 7+ normally stay for the whole service.
Sunday Club (previously Junior Church)
Sunday Club aims to provide a caring, fun environment as the Christian faith is explored through fun activities including art and crafts, baking, singing, role plays etc.
Ages 3 to 14 are catered for. Please contact
Music Group
Want to learn an instrument? The Music Group practices on Sundays after the morning service at 11.30. It specialises in mentoring younger players though all are welcome. The Music Group plays in Church on the first Sunday of each month, and occasionally at other times such as our Christingle Services.
Also a recorder group meets for 15 minutes after the morning service to start children on their first music instrument.
would like to hear from you.

Caley Pre-School celebrated 35 years in 2004. It meets five days a
week and some afternoons. The Ofsted report for 2004
gave special praise for our Special Educational Needs Provision. Besides
meeting the normal Ofsted requirements with our usual activities,
additional activities includes a visit to Marsh Farm, Sports Day, Nativity
and Easter plays, Christmas parties etc.
Please e-mail the Registrar
for further information.
The plus four group caters for young children aged four to six. Our aim
is to let the children have fun, and with this in mind we keep the hour
very easy -going. We usually do some sort of craft activity or cooking,
tossing pancakes is a great favourite, but it also includes games and
stories. We look for any excuse to have a party and also enjoy treasure
hunts in the Church.

We continue to enjoy ourselves in the Music Group, meeting every Sunday
morning to practice in Caley Hall after the 10.00am service, and
contributing to the worship on a regular basis. We generally play once a
month at family services and from time to time at other events,
notably:
- The Christingle, much enjoyed by everyone, young and not so
young;
- Church Camp at Bicknacre photos, much fun trying to stay dry and keep
hold of music threatening to take off in the breeze;
We continue to try new arrangements and new hymns which are often
challenging for the more mature members of the group, whilst seemingly
taken in the stride of many of the younger musicians, some of whom now
play in bands outside of church.
If anyone out there wants to join us, we are always keen to see new
faces. It is not necessary to be a proficient musician (listen to me!),
but if you want to learn we would be more than happy to see you. We look
forward with enthusiasm, in the hope that we can maintain if not increase
our numbers; continue to develop both musically and personally; and
continue to make a valuable contribution to the Worship and life in the
Church; and, last but not least, enjoy ourselves!
