Christ Church Anniversary Weekend - July 10/11th 2010

The main event in our Anniversary Year – this will take the form of an ‘Open Day’ with a variety of activities on the Saturday and a Service of Thanksgiving on the Sunday morning.

Saturday

The Church will be open to the public from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
There will be:

  • Activities for Children

  • In Caley Hall – Activity Centre with slide, bouncy ‘bits’, ball pond etc, and tombola with prizes
In the Meeting Room - face painting & pictures
Pre-School will be performing as part of the entertainment in the afternoon
  • Refreshments
Refreshments (free teas/coffees/soft drinks) will be available all day from the servery
From around 12.00 p.m. lunch will be available in the Primary Room
  • Decoration etc
The building will be decorated in a number of ways:
Flowers on just about every available surface – so don’t stand too still!
including on the window sills in the Worship Area photos of some of the groups that operate within our Church
Poster displays in the Welcome Area showing how members of our Church are involved in:
    The local community
Work oversees via the Refugee group
    Romania
    and now in Zimbabwe
The District Tapestry will be on display
Along the corridor towards Primary there will be a display of various documents/photos reflecting some of the events of the past 100 years at Christ Church.
  • The Ceremony
At around 3:00pm a number of guests will join the Minister on the platform. There will then be a short ceremony (20 to 30 minutes) to recognise the anniversary - appropriate words of thanks and celebration, prayers, a short Service, and a symbolic cutting of a cake

Sunday

Morning Worship will be a Service of Thanksgiving for the 100 years of our existence.

Following this there will be the usual cuppa and time for a chat with a number of guests from the past who will be in attendance. Maybe you would just like to sit and listen to the music, to watch the display of photos from the past, take part in an activity or two, or simply do nothing – it is up to you.

There will then be a buffet lunch for those who have booked, during which entertainment will be provided by one of our Church families.
